Caution!
Do not attempt any adjustments with the engine running. Stop the engine and allow sufficient time to cool.
Step 1:
Disconnect the spark plug wire and remove ignition key.
Step 2:
Move the speed control lever to the fast position.
This will move the driven disc to the outside edge of the drive disc.
The outside edge of the driven disc should be 1/8 inch from the outer edge of the drive disc.
Step 3:
If the driven disc is not 1/8 inch from the outside edge of the drive disc, remove the spring.
Step 4:
Remove the Jam Nut.
Step 5:
Remove the cotter pin, washer and disconnect the transfer rod.
Step 6:
Set the driven disc 18 of an inch from the edge of the drive disc.
Step 7:
Rotate the transfer rod to adjust length. Then reinsert the rod into the thrust plate.
Step 8:
Re-verify the 1/8 inch measurement.
Repeat previous steps as necessary.
Step 9:
Install the washer and a new cotter pin (Snapper Part No. 7090673), and tighten the Jam Nut.

Move the speed control lever to the slow position and then the fast position.
Step 11:
Verify the 18 of an inch space between the driven disc and the edge of the drive disc.
