How to install Briggs and Stratton 5401 Oil Drain Valve

Directions on how to install the Briggs and Stratton 5401 oil drain valve.  Using the Briggs and Stratton 5401 oil drain valve will increase the speed of oil changes and reduce the chances of spilling oil all over your garage floor.

Step 1:
Remove old oil drain plug and drain oil into an appropriate container. Dispose of oil properly.

Step 2:
Hand tighten the new Briggs and Stratton oil drain valve into the drain hole, then wrench tighten an additional 1/2 turn.

Step 3:
Ensure oil drain valve is closed; push in and turn clockwise.

Step 4:
Add oil to the engine according to the instructions in the operator’s manual.

Step 5:
The next time you change your oil, attach oil drain hose to valve.

Step 6:
Open oil drain valve by pushing in and turning counter clockwise and pull.

Step 7:
To close the oil drain valve, push-in and turn clockwise.

Step 8:
Add oil to the engine according to the instructions in the operator’s manual.
