Replacing Your Small Engine Carburetor

This DIY Guide will teach to replace a small engine carburetor on your outdoor power equipment. Once the carburetor is off, rebuilding it is explained in another DIY Guide. If you have questions or comments please feel free to contact us using the comments section below or our contact form.

Step 1:
Remove any obstructions such as cowlings, covers and peripherals.

Step 2:
Find a suitable way to keep the fuel from running out of the fuel line itself.

Step 3:
Disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor.

Step 4:
Mark any cables/linkages attached to the carburetor. You may now remove these control devices.

Step 5:
Find and remove the carburetor mounting bolts (these hold the carburetor to the engine).

Step 6:
Once the carburetor is off, replace it with your new part.

Step 7:
Reassemble the cables, linkages, fuel line and covers. Remember to remove the fuel shutoff device mentioned above.

Step 8:
Start and run the equipment to ensure proper operation.
